Yatishwari Sivapriya Amba
Divine Mother
Recognition as a “a great realized soul” by her revered Guru, Tapovanam Srimath Swamiji Chidhbhavananda Maharaj is perhaps the highest tribute that can be paid to Yatishwari Sivapriya Amba who dedicated her exemplary life to be an instrument of God by upholding sadhana, selfless service, penance, prayer and meditation.
Swamiji established the Sri Sarada Samithi at Madurai and appointed Amba as its head. The very personification of the divine Mother, Amba lovingly oversaw the tapas and training of the brahmacharinis motivating them with kind words and great affection. Amba conducted weekly satsangam for fostering spiritual practices and for developing the spiritual life of householder devotees. To promote value-based, holistic, purposeful and meaningful education, Amba established Sri Sarada Vidyavanam on 18th June, 1984 to educate and empower young girls. The school is today an esteemed institution pursuing excellence in all spheres.
Amba was a multifaceted artist who drew beautiful kolams, sang melodiously with soul-stirring devotion, strung intricate beadwork, wove fragrant flower garlands and composed many stories, songs and plays. The God-realized soul attained mahasamadhi and merged with the lotus feet of the Lord on March 23rd, 2000 after fulfilling her spiritual mission in life with selfless dedication, determination and commitment.
